Quinton Aaron has been connected to life support after collapsing in his home. In a report on Jan. 26, The Blind Side actor’s wife, Margarita Aaron, told Fox News that her husband was intubated on Friday, Jan. 23, to address his “sporadic” breathing. Quinton, who portrayed Michael Oher in the 2009 film, was diagnosed with a severe blood infection and has since been placed on life support as a result, Margarita said.
Amid his stay in the intensive care unit, his Blind Side co-star Jae Head shared a somber update, stating that Aaron is in “pretty bad shape”. At first, Quinton’s clinical staff were not entirely sure of the main reason for the actor’s condition, Margarita noted, except for the fact that it is connected to his blood. “He’s still on antibiotics, general antibiotics to just address whatever the problem might be regarding his blood,” Margarita informed Fox News. Nonetheless, a fresh report from TMZ claims that a cyst was found on the actor’s spine. Per the outlet, medical professionals are conducting tests to determine if the cyst is non-cancerous, though spinal surgery could be the following step.

“While he appeared slightly coherent, he was not very responsive,” Margarita added. “I did at least receive a thumbs up from him when I spoke with him, which was encouraging”. Margarita noted that Quinton, 41, appears to be less dependent on the endotracheal tube and respiratory aid recently, and he is “doing some of the work as well”. Quinton is scheduled to undergo further scans to help identify a specific origin, she stated.
“He’s a fighter. He’s a very resilient fighter, and you know, he is making headway daily, and I trust God’s got him, and he believes God’s got him,” Margarita expressed.
Quinton was transported to the medical center late last week after he tumbled while ascending the stairs in his apartment, TMZ first reported on Jan. 25. Quinton’s legs abruptly stopped working, which resulted in him falling, the outlet reported, referencing Quinton’s manager. The actor’s manager also mentioned that Aaron is in steady condition and has been capable of communicating with his crew and family, according to TMZ.
Quinton encountered another medical scare in February 2024 when he was admitted for coughing up blood and a high temperature, TMZ previously reported. At that time, his clinical team suspected Quinton could be suffering from Type A flu and pneumonia. A GoFundMe page intended to assist Quinton and his family has collected more than $38,000 as of Jan. 27. The post’s summary mentions that the performer’s hospitalization has been “abrupt, terrifying, and draining for his loved ones,” who are navigating “an immense emotional and financial strain” as a consequence.
In recent years, Quinton has been open about his weight loss journey, and in October 2025, he disclosed a significant milestone: shedding 200 lbs. In a post on Instagram, the actor shared two photos of himself to illustrate his change. “I am overwhelmed and blessed to announce that I have reached another cool Milestone in my life,” Quinton wrote in the caption. “Today while weighing myself, I observed that I reached the 200 pound mark”.
The actor added that he is merely 55 lbs. away from his total goal of weighing 320 lbs. “I GOT THIS!!!” he finished the post.
